1. Spread the dough with a rolling pin (using only half of the piece of dough, and keep the other piece to cut out the winter figurines); once the dough is spread, cut it out with a large disc or a flat plate (it must be bigger than the tart tray) and then put it in the tart tray.

2. Meanwhile, the minced meat mixed with onion and pepper is put on medium heat, on the stove; over it we add about a cup of water and then let all the water drop. When this meat mixture is ready, place it in the pan over the sheet of dough.

3. Over the tart thus obtained we put thin slices of tomato, parmesan and, in order to be in tune with the winter holidays, we can decorate with dough figurines, on this theme; I chose fir trees, stars, bells, then I anointed them with a beaten egg and sprinkled them with inspiration: sesame seeds, flax, poppy seeds and some paprika ..... I liked what came out, so I'm giving this cake as a gift to Santa Claus!

The legend of Santa Claus - find out what the story is

Saint Nicholas and where did the tradition of gifts come from? We all know that Santa Claus brings gifts, and December 6th is a special day for all children, and why do some of us really know the legend of Santa Claus? Find out who St. Nicholas was, the one from whom the tradition of gifts & icircn boots started.

Who is Santa Claus?

Santa Claus is a popular personification of time. He took from the Christian calendar the name and date of celebration of St. Nicholas, a real person (bishop of Myra), defender of the faith of Jesus. He has been recognized as a saint since the 16th century. So, Santa Claus existed as body and soul, now he exists as spirit, because he embodies goodness, faith and generosity.

The legend of Santa Claus

St. Nicholas lived in the 2nd-3rd centuries AD, and the date of December 6, celebrated today, is the date of his death, in the year 352. As he grew up, Nicholas was taken to school to study the Holy Scriptures, because he was born from the beginning. tender he showed himself to be a lover of the poor. Left without parents, he used the wealth left by his parents to help the poor and to build a church. With each passing day, Nicolae progressed more and more spiritually, so he was entrusted to God, then he went to a monastery to become a monk, but God had other plans for him. Throughout his life, Nicholas preached the teachings of the Holy Scriptures with great care, and this made him much loved by the inhabitants of the city. He took care of every man, poor or rich, young and old, children and widows.

The tradition of Santa Claus gifts

Gift-giving has become a tradition of St. Nicholas, after St. Nicholas himself became known for the generosity he showed during his lifetime. The evening of December 5 to 6 is the most awaited evening by the little ones. I polish my boots, get my boots ready and wait for Santa Claus. But where did the tradition of Santa Claus gifts begin?

How was born the tradition of gifts & icircn boots of Santa Claus Among his deeds, draws attention to an episode, related & icircn religious writings. It is said that St. Nicholas saved three very poor sisters from prostitution. The father had already thought of pushing them to despair, and when St. Nicholas heard the story, in the middle of the night, he jumped to the girls' aid. He arrived at the poor man's house and left a bag of money at the window. The next day, the astonished man thanked God and kept asking who his benefactor was. The poor man used the money to marry his eldest daughter, and the story was repeated with the other two younger girls. They got married shortly after receiving the gifts from Santa Claus. The anonymous nature of these gestures would have inspired people to offer gifts to St. Nicholas. For this reason, the priests claim that St. Nicholas could be considered the true Santa Claus, and this is because Nicholas is, indeed, a bringer of gifts.

Santa Claus helps poor girls

St. Nicholas is also said to be God's spy for the devil, to help widows and orphans, but also poor girls to marry him. He is also the master of the waters and saves the navigators from the siege, defends the soldiers in time of war and is therefore invoked during battles. & Icircn Transylvania, Santa Claus is called S & acircn-Nicoară and is one of the most popular saints. A Transylvanian legend says that St. Nicholas can be seen on New Year's Eve in the great light, when the heavens open three times. family, therefore, he intervenes in the education of children. & Icircn the night of December 5 to 6, the little ones can receive either a stick, if they were not good, or sweets and other gifts, if they deserve it. Tradition says that the stick with which the disobedient is struck must be of apple, and if it, put in water, will bloom by Christmas, it means that the saint has mediated the forgiveness of the one who has been struck. In the Christian tradition, Santa Claus was more generous with punishments than with rewards. It is said that he punished those who deviated from the right faith by hitting them with a stick. According to legend, in 325, St. Nicholas participated in the first Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, an event in which Arius, a priest from Alexandria, claimed that Jesus Christ was not of the same nature as God the Father. Disturbed by this statement, Saint Nicholas slapped the heretic, hence the custom that the naughty ones should receive a wand from Santa Claus. St. Nicholas knew that after the quarrel, a trial was also required. Therefore, he gave many gifts to the poor, reassured the sorrowful, and healed the sick. December 6 ends the cycle of holidays and magical practices that began in mid-November, culminating in St. Andrew's Day. In the Roman tradition, Santa Claus appears on a white horse, signifying the first snow to fall at the beginning of winter.

The legend of Santa Claus & icircn other countries

The legend of Santa Claus spread throughout the world and took on the characteristics of each country. In Europe, in the twelfth century, the day of St. Nicholas became the day of gifts and charitable activities. In Germany, the tradition of celebrating Santa Claus emerged by combining a pagan figure with the Christian image of St. Nicholas, who is seen by the Germans as an old man carrying a backpack and a wand. On the other side of the boots, the children prepare a letter on the eve, which contains all the wishes and a few carrots for Santa's horses. It is also said that Santa Claus has with him a book, & icircn which passed all the deeds of the children, good or bad. If they were not good, the children receive sticks, potatoes or charcoal. In some parts of Germany, children dress up as Santa Claus and roam the neighboring houses to receive sweets. The children from France, on the eve of Christmas, leave a glass of wine for Santa Claus, and a little sugar for his donkey. On December 6, they receive chocolate, gingerbread, fruit, and send letters to relatives to wish them a happy holiday. Especially in the eastern regions of France, the little ones know that Santa Claus is riding a donkey, along with Pere Fouettard (Santa Claus), who is wearing a black donkey. If Santa Claus leaves gifts to good children, Pere Fouettard is the one who rebukes the children who were not good, grafting them with a stick.

Santa's cake. Prepare it for December 5th

With the arrival of Santa Claus, on the night of December 5 to 6, we all let ourselves be overwhelmed by the spirit of the winter holidays. Santa Claus, the first bringer of winter gifts, must be received, however, as it should be. And because Romanians have a reputation for being good hosts, we should prove this in the relationship with the old man who leaves our gifts in our boots.

To convince him that we deserve everything he gives us, let's welcome him with a delicious and easy to prepare dessert. It must be prepared on the eve of St. Nicholas and not earlier, to be fresh.

Particularly beautiful customs and traditions of St. Nicholas Day

In popular belief, Saint Nicholas is also known as San-Nicoara. He is said to guard the sun as he tries to sneak past it to reach the northern realms to leave the world without heat and light.

In some areas of the country, on St. Nicholas Day, people bring home fruit tree crucifers that they keep in the water next to icons to bloom until the New Year. And if these branches will bloom until the end of the year, the coming year will be very fruitful and full of satisfaction.

In other regions, the girls gather on the eve of the holiday to make pies, and in the evening, at nine o'clock, the lads rush over them and the party begins.

In the rural area, on the day of Saint Nicholas, the boys organize themselves in groups, they choose their host in whose house the rehearsals for the Christmas and New Year carols will take place.

It is popularly believed that winter begins in the true sense of the word Saint Nicholas. On this day, Santa shortens his beard and starts to snow. And if it doesn't snow, it means that Saint Nicholas has rejuvenated.

Every year, on the night of December 5 to 6, the children know that their boots or boots must be polished, because Santa Claus will come to them to bring gifts to the good ones. Disobedient children receive a wand, meant to warn them and remind them that they must listen to their parents and grandparents. For Santa Claus, it is enough to look out the windows to see if a child was good or bad.

Even if Santa Claus is always in a hurry to reach children around the world, he makes time to listen to the wishes of each child. According to Romanian traditions, Santa Claus appears on a white horse, thus referring to the first snow that falls at the beginning of winter, helps all the needy, orphans and widows, is the master of the waters and saves ships from drowning, protects soldiers during war .

According to popular tradition, on the holy nights of the holidays, when the heavens open for us, ordinary mortals, it is said that for a second Saint Nicholas can be seen standing at the right hand of the Lord.

In Europe, around the twelfth century, St. Nicholas Day became both the day of gifts and charitable activities.

Among the Germans, the tradition of celebrating Santa Claus appeared by combining the Christian image of the Saint with a pagan figure. He is seen by the Germans as an old man with a sack in his back and a wand in his hand. In addition to the boots that the children carefully prepare for Santa's arrival, on the eve they write a letter in which all their wishes appear, but also a few carrots for Santa's horses. Moreover, St. Nicholas always has with him a book in which all the deeds of the children are written, whether they are good or bad. And if the little ones were not small, they receive chopsticks, potatoes or charcoal. In some parts of Germany, children dress up as Santa Claus and roam all the neighboring houses while the hosts offer them sweets.

Saint Hierarch Nicholas

“His heart as a Christian father burned like a torch. Perhaps here, too, lies a mystery of his holiness: his capacity for suffering, the suffering he gathered from all, [which] made his love brighter, and which then attracted more suffering, increasing the fire of his love for people. His heart was a sea where all the tears of the earth flowed. "
